Handy Apps For Life In The Great Outdoors

No matter where it is you’re going, it’s always a good idea to be organised and prepared for whatever you may face whilst on your trip. Glamping is certainly no exception to this rule!

In this day and age, most people are very dependent upon a smartphone for a lot of things, but there are actually a lot of useful and informative apps for our phones that could help us out. Here’s a few apps that might be worth downloading before your next glamping experience:

   ‘Flashlight’

This uses the LED light that is already fitted in the phone to fill the whole screen with a white-like bright light that is so powerful it can be used as a ‘main light’ in your glawning/tent. It also comes with affects that can be used such as strobe lights and holiday themed ones such as orange for Halloween and a light that shows as a heart for Valentine’s Day, just for a bit of fun!

‘St John Ambulance first aid’

It's never a nice thought to think that something may happen to one of us whilst away but it’s certainly a good idea to be prepared as much as possible just in case it does. This app includes up to date first aid advice and the best ways to handle emergency situations. It contains illustrated guides and voiced instructions. It allows you to select from a major or minor category to find the specific problem that’s being experienced and then find a solution for it. Always be prepared!

‘AccuWeather’

If you’re in England, the weather is very unreliable and unpredictable so you never know what to expect! This app can help with that as it provides you with hourly forecasts and a 15-day forecast, so you can get a rough idea of how it may be, plus weather maps to see what’s happening elsewhere. It covers the UK and some other parts of the world.
A useful feature is that it has a lifestyle page which means you can see how local conditions may affect certain activities such as dog walking or star gazing, which is very helpful if you’re wanting to do something specific.

 ‘Survival guide’

Like the first aid app, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for anything and everything you may face. This app provides a complete and extensive guide of survival skills you may need. It includes advice for medical emergencies, bites and stings, poisonous plants, animals to keep away from and how to survive in different climates.

All of these apps would be incredibly useful whilst glamping in terms of keeping you organised and prepared for multiple situations. Please be sure to let us know if any of them have been useful for you and if there are any others you use!
