Night at the Movies: Half Term Activity Idea
Getting bored of Netflix on the sofa? How about a ‘Night At The Movies’ in your own back garden? Utilise your glawning or bell tent whilst we are stuck at home and let’s have some fun!
Lockdown 3.0 has been a tough time for all of us and we are running out of ideas to make staying at home the new ‘Going Out’.
A Night At The Movies is fun for all ages, so what are you waiting for?
First things first, set up your tent of choice, taking into consideration that you will need electrics running to it from your home. Bell tents and glawnings with wood-burners or nylon tents with heaters, whatever you have in your possession will do! Once your tent is up, lay out multiple rugs on the base of your tent to keep the heat in and then scatter your cushions, blankets and bean bag seating around the centre. See the glawning sale for some fab discounted seating options. Next up is the cinema screen; if you have a projector then you are winning. If not, a quick online search and you can bag yourself a projector and screen for a reasonable price. A TV screen on a stand will work just fine if not!
Now it’s time to set up the entrance for the arrival of the cinema goers. Find yourself a blackboard on an easel or large piece of card for the Showing Board. Set your showing times and movie titles; maybe it’s a movie marathon, kids afternoon showing or romantic night screening. The choices are endless! This will ensure things run smoothly and create a buzz around the household (which is something we all need right now).
Next up...what is one snack that you never go without at the cinema? POPCORN! Buttery, salty or plain, the choice is yours. This is a must, so get that popcorn popping away in a pot the wood-burning stove and have your toppings at the ready. You can even get old school popcorn boxes cheaply on Amazon for an extra cinematic touch.
Our ‘Night At The Movies’ set up wouldn’t be the same without fairy lights and bunting, would it? So, decorate to your heart's content. Glam up the grand tent entrance, add a remarkable red carpet walkway, spruce up the screen and illuminate the interior. See the glawning sale for discounted lighting options. Let’s create a magical wonderland of twinkling lights!
One last addition that you can't go without: tickets! Another prime activity to keep your kids occupied. Download and print our cinema tickets template below and go crazy with some colour. Make sure you share your works of art with us on social media (@glawning). You can’t get into the cinema without buying a ticket, meaning everyone needs one - even Mum and Dad!
