Top 5 UK Coastal Campsites: 2021 Summer Staycation under Canvas

There is going to be an influx of people wanting to travel to some UK coastal campsites, with increased uncertainty around travelling abroad this summer. So what better place to start than the breathtakingly beautiful coastline?! 

If you've ever hit the jackpot with the UK weather whilst camping then you know you can tell Benidorm to jog on. A fabulous week can be had a mere couple of hours from your doorstep without a whiff of passport control.

If you aren't blessed with wonderful weather (highly likely), investing in a glawning could help ease the misery of wet weather camping. On Chesil Beach

Family friendly Sweet Hill Farm Mill Hill is on the southern tip of Dorset's Isle of Portland, just ten minutes away from Chesil Beach. It has views of the Jurassic Coast, including three lighthouses.

No electric and no showers so it's a nearly wild experience (working loos and running water). Dogs and fires are allowed and they sell logs onsite.

THINGS TO DO: horse-riding with Chesil Equestrian next door, hiking and a visit to the local pub half a mile stroll away.

 Welsh Wonderment

Located in Aberafon, North Wales, this seaside camping location has mountains to boot. This site with 16 pitches adjoins a private beach with access for boats to be launched.

THINGS TO DO: Climb Snowdon, a spot of river or sea fishing, take to the local cycle tracks.

Skye's the limit

Stunning waterfront location, Kinloch Campsite is small and family-run so tranquillity and friendliness are its USPs. The site is on the shores of Loch Dunvegan and overlooked by MacLeod's Tables (two flat-topped hills) on the Isle of Skye; a twitchers paradise and a hikers dream.

A five- minute walk from the village of Dunvegan on the island's northwest coast, which has a range of pubs, shops and cafes. Kinloch Campsite is one UK coastal campsite you don't want to miss!

Top of the World

On Flamborough Head with direct private access to Bempton Cliffs, panoramic sea views and no fewer than five spectacular Yorkshire coast beaches nearby. Ramblers will love taking in the clifftop pathways along the Flamborough headland and the Cleveland Heritage Coast.

Nearby Flamborough village offers plenty of good pubs, coffee shops and obligatory fish and chips. The site itself has spacious pitches on its headland location.

Go Big or Go Home

Trevornick Holiday Park, and Porth Beach Holiday Park are both coastal, full-on holiday parks. The former has a pool onsite and offers entertainment, so if you like off-grid peace and quiet look elsewhere. However, this could be perfect for you if you've got kids to amuse and you like an activity-filled camping holiday.

THINGS TO DO: Explore the coast on horseback courtesy of a nearby stable such as Reen Manor. Camping at Trevornick Holiday Park is truly special.
